Her research interests are in cosmology. In particular, she studies the nature of dark energy by observing the shapes of galaxies. She focuses on two factors that influence galaxy shapes. The first is a phenomenon known as gravitional lensing, which causes a distortion in the shapes of galaxies. Measurements of these observations provide information about the composition of matter through the Universe. The second factor that affects galaxy shapes are gravitional tides. These two factors are critical components of large-scale structure models of the Universe, which Chisari tests and improves by combining observations, computer simulations and analytical theory.

Chisari is involved in several different galaxy surveys. For example, she works on the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, mostly on developing the theoretical modeling pipeline for analyzing this telescope’s data.

Next to this, Chisari is an author for astrobitos.org, a website bringing current research summaries to undergraduate students.

Chisari completed her PhD in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University in 2014.

Het eerste is een fenomeen dat bekend staat als de zwaartekrachtlens; een relatief zeer sterk zwaartekrachtveld, dat het licht van een daarachterliggend voorwerp afbuigt. De metingen en observaties geven informatie over de samenstelling van materie in het universum. De tweede factor is zwaartekrachtsgolven. Deze twee factoren vormen belangrijke componenten van grootschalige structuurmodellen van het universum, die Chisari test en verbetert door het combineren van observaties, computersimulaties en analystische theorie.
