Since 2009, Prof. Dr. Ir. Andy van den Dobbelsteen is full professor of Climate Design & Sustainability at the Faculty of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology. His work focuses mainly on the field of sustainable construction and sustainable energy systems for the urban environment. The key concept here is 'smart & bioclimatic design': hereby the local conditions are optimally used in building designs, in order to achieve sustainable use of resources.

Andy has conducted several research projects on energy, climate and sustainability in the built environment, among which the EU project City-zen (on energy transition) and the Urban Regions in the Delta project Better Airport Regions (on circularity).

From 2021 onwards, van den Dobbelsteen became Sustainability-coordinator for the Delft University of Technology. From this position, he will develop a sustainability vision and program for the university campus in the near future.

Prof. dr. ir. Andy van den Dobbelsteen is sinds 2009 als hoogleraar Climate Design & Sustainability verbonden aan de Faculteit Bouwkunde van de Technische Universiteit Delft. Zijn onderzoek richt zich vooral op duurzaam bouwen en duurzame energiesystemen in de stedelijke omgeving.
